Irish Design – Dusty Boy Designs

Dusty Boy Designs is the product of creative couple Kate & Justin. Tucked away in the Wexford countryside, they design the coolest and most beautiful typography graphics. Dusty Boy Designs incorporates their graphics into prints, stationery and invitations.

As a stationery loving freak, I’ve been stalking their instagram for quite some time! Apart from swoon-worthy snaps of prints and notebooks, there’s their dogs. Enough said 😉

Dusty Boy Designs make greeting cards, notebooks, desk pads, wedding stationery, and prints.

My absolute favourite range is the baby prints. I always struggle to buy presents for new babies. It’s tough to find something that’s meaningful or they don’t have multiples of. Kate & Justin create cute, thoughtful and affordable prints.

The baby milestone cards are such a cool idea! It comes with 30 cards to photograph with the baby, marking special moments.

As a couple who work together, in a rural setting I couldn’t wait to hear what life entails at Dusty Boy Designs. Here’s what Kate said;

What’s in a day at Dusty Boy Designs?

No two days are the same! As a general rule, we have coffee, Justin tackles emails and I walk the dogs. By the time I get back there are orders to be processed and posted and Justin gets cracking on design work for clients. In the afternoon, we generally come together and get cracking on developing a stationery line that we may have on the go or coming up with new concepts for our business. Then it’s more emails and coffee before we close down for the evening!
What’s the best and not so great part of being self-employed?

Myself and Justin work from home so the commute is a doddle! We also get to hang out with our dogs and choose our own work hours. Growing a business that is ours is very exciting, it’s very rewarding watching it grow from strength to strength. The down side is that we live and work in the same small space so that can definitely be challenging. The dream is to build our own studio beside our home where we can leave work behind at the end of the day. We will get there!!
Describe the style of Dusty Boy Designs.

Fresh, Painterly and Fun!
What influences you and your work?

Both myself and Justin are very influenced by nature. We live in the wilds of Wexford deep in the countryside which heaves with inspiration as soon as we open the front door!
What are your favourite interior shops in Ireland?

My absolute favourite interior shop in Ireland would have to be Industry Design on Drury Street where we stock our cards – their interiors are out of this world and I can’t help but get one of their gorgeous flat whites and caramel salted brownies when I’m in there!!

What’s next for Dusty Boy Designs?

We have lots of exciting projects on their way for 2017 with a possible collaboration in the pipeline!
